Gardener’s Cottage
Our luxury holiday cottage in West Wales is the former Head Gardener’s home situated on the private estate of Plas Llangoedmor, which translates as ‘Church in the trees by the sea’. Consequently, this perfectly describes the idyllic situation of Gardener’s cottage. Located less than half a mile from the market town of Cardigan, the Teifi Estuary Nature Reserve, stunning Blue Flag beaches and the 186 mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path.

Like our other holiday properties in West Wales, Ty Sherwood and Headland Cottage, the interior is designed to reflect the local area. So, local Melin Tregwynt Welsh wool furnishings and fabulous fine art pieces celebrating local artists are used to decorate the cottage. On arrival, we always provide a generous welcome pack, this includes local artisan foods, flowers and seasonal fruit and veg from the private estate kitchen garden.

Stay Like A Squire
Built in the 1800s, Gardener’s Cottage is a sublime rural retreat built into the wall of a 1.5-acre walled private garden. Which exhibits panoramic views over the surrounding country estate and the ancient St.Cynllo’s church. Plas Llangoedmor has 30 acres of fields and gardens of tranquillity. It is a Grade 2 listed house with a fascinating history, well documented in the Welsh archives. You can delve into a copy of ‘Squires of South Wales’ which we leave for guests to read, written by one of the previous owners of the estate describing the life of a Squire in the early 1900s.
Gardener’s cottage has recently been lovingly restored to create a flexible two bedroomed luxury holiday cottage in West Wales. With character, period features combining slate floors, underfloor heating throughout, exposed timbers & stonework with the very best of modern interior design. This refined Welsh holiday home has a large orangery style lounge with floor to ceiling glass bi-fold doors. So, this allows guests to delight in an ‘outside room’ inside and immerse the senses with the garden birds’ woodland chorus. Cosy up in the snug around the wood-burner on chilly nights. Or, relax in the sumptuous seating area after a full day exploring the Preseli hills and heritage coast of Ceredigion.
Woodland Suite
Our downstairs bedroom with a super-king bed really is a nature lover’s paradise. French doors with wooden shutters lead directly into the huge walled garden. During your stay, enjoy breakfast with a panoramic view over the valley to the woodland (where red kites have nested in the last few years) and Church and watch rare birds without leaving your bedroom, if you’re lucky our friendly pair of Wagtails may pay you a visit!
Superior Ensuite: leading from the woodland suite, a superbly designed shower room with cosy underfloor heating and a huge walk-in rain shower – indulge!
Garden Cwtch
A double aspect huge bedroom with original oak beam ceilings, the front overlooks the garden to the Church and the other window towards the delightful Kitchen Garden of the mansion. Also, both have window seats to gaze at the views straight out of a Peter Rabbit book. Don’t worry, no Mr McGregor here, but there is a beautiful ‘Allotment’ themed décor. The flexible family bedroom can be set up as a Super King or a Twin room and also has a double sofa bed which can be made-up if required.
Luxury Family Bathroom: With a built in bath and shower, intricate mosaic tiles and welcoming underfloor heating. All fuelled by our sustainable biomass boiler.
Kitchen Inside and Out!
With an original slate floor re-laid to add underfloor heating, our luxury holiday cottage in West Wales has the full works when it comes to a kitchen with all mod cons. Quality granite surfaces, a Rangemaster cooker, induction hob, a handy utility room or ‘doggy ensuite’ the perfect access for pooches after an external doggie shower! A stable-door from the kitchen-diner leads to the outdoor kitchen area – complete with Pizza Oven and BBQ. So you can cook up a feast and enjoy a Welsh sunset with a chilled glass of fizz, it’s what relaxing family holidays are all about!
The Cottage Garden & Potting Shed Den
Chill in the sunny south facing garden with comfy furniture, bean bags and a huge hammock – but why should the adults have all the fun? To make your family holiday in Wales complete, we’ve added a fantastic family fun den ‘The Potting Shed’ garden room. Whatever the weather, it’s perfect for children to enjoy some secret exploring time with a TV, games, toys and bean bags – the hardest bit will be getting them back indoors.
Wildlife & Walks
The cottage is surrounded by farmers’ fields and woodland so your nearest neighbours are likely to be sheep, cows, rabbits, woodpeckers, cheeky jackdaws and soaring red kites, it’s a superb spot for nature lovers.
We’re only too happy to share our local knowledge of some of the best walks we’ve found directly from Gardener’s Cottage, with historic walks around Llangoedmor Village to longer jaunts to Cilgerran Wildlife Centre. So pack your rucksack, snacks & boots and get ready to enjoy the diverse footpath routes and the crisp country Ceredigion air.
