Dog Friendly

We are not just dog ‘friendly’, we are passionate about dogs!

Often we travel with Winnie & George, our Schnoodle dogs, so we really understand what makes a difference to a luxury holiday for the ‘whole’ family. We take great delight in making Gardener’s Cottage a dog friendly holiday cottage in every way we can and we’re flexible on the number of dogs in a party.

Acres of Doggie Heaven

Our perfect pet friendly accommodation is positioned in the 30-acre grounds of Plas Llangoedmor. There is a large separate enclosed garden, so your furry best friend can sniff and explore safely to their heart’s content. There occasionally may be a cow looking over the garden gate. During your relaxing West Wales holiday, you can access many public footpath walks and trails in the Ceredigion landscape, straight from your doorstep. Or to blow away the cobwebs and enjoy a slice of real ‘doggie heaven’ take a short drive to the local dog friendly beach, Poppit Sands, a huge sandy expanse waiting to be explored by excited paws!

We look to provide a V.I.Pup experience in every way at Gardener’s Cottage, and so far we have been rated five paws!

Please Get in Touch to discuss all your special canine needs and if you have any further suggestions on how we can make your dog-friendly holiday in Wales the best experience it can be.

Pet Portrait by Anne Cakebread

Digital Pet Portraits

With our dog friendly holiday cottage, we’re always on the lookout to add to our V.I.Pup experience. We work in partnership with local award-winning artist, Anne Cakebread and can now offer a digital pet portrait service. Send us your favourite photo of your dog two months prior to your visit and on your arrival at Gardener’s Cottage, an original piece of digital portraiture will be ready for you. The pet portrait can then be reproduced on canvases, mugs, T.Shirts – pretty much whatever you want.

Alternatively, whilst on your fab break in West Wales, if you take a great doggie pic, we can post you a lasting pet portrait memento after your visit.

Here’s our own dogs, Winnie & George, digitally reimagined!

Yes, please.

Planning on going out without your dog? Let us know. We have a number of options for you.

The garden is contained, partly surrounded by a wide hedge and partly by fencing with an entrance gate into the nearest field. This should provide plenty of secure space for your dog to enjoy their holiday freedom. However please do be aware that the neighbouring fields may contain cows, sheep, rabbits and squirrels. Please do not leave your dog unattended if they are unused to wildlife or they are escape artists! If you have any questions please call us, we are always happy to discuss your dog’s particular requirements.

We understand happy dogs are often muddy dogs so we have an outside doggie hot & cold shower and provide our special dog towels to dry off before they come into the cosy cottage.

Browse through the cottage information pack – there are so many brilliant walks in Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, if you want to find specific traffic-free walks, we’re happy to share our local knowledge with you.

Priory Vets (based in Cardigan) are excellent and provide an on-call 24 hours service. Out-of-Hours Emergencies – 01239 612479 (same number during the day).

We provide a dog tag with the address for Gardener’s Cottage and our contact number – if we are called we will contact you immediately.

Burns Pet Shop, Cardigan and The Cardigan Pet Centre, both have a large range of well-known dog food brands. If you are looking for local treats then the St Dogmael’s farmers market sells homemade biscuits by a company called St Dogmeals.

There are lots of local dog friendly beaches including Poppit Sands which is good for human and dog swimming (please check tides, weather and any local information at the beaches before swimming).

At Gardener’s Cottage we provide Poo bags and a disposal point.

We do ask that dogs stay off the beds due to the mix of visitors that we receive. However, we do understand that some dogs like cosy spots to curl up on the sofa – so we provide a huge doggy blanket and would ask you to cover anything that your dog fancies snoozing on.
